Questions & answers

Questions about use cases and operating models

Which operating models does DISACON support?
DISACON supports a range of operating and licence models, including set-ups with an external custodian bank, internal or external custody, outsourced processing and hybrid models. The specific design depends on your regulatory role, your existing partners and how much you want to run yourself.
Can we connect an external custodian bank or depository?
Yes. DISACON is designed to connect external custodian banks or depositories in a standardised way. Integration runs via clearly defined interfaces, so securities account management and custody can sit outside, while the processes are controlled centrally through DISACON.
Is it possible to provide custody internally and outsource other functions?
Yes. Common set-ups are internal custody with outsourced securities account management or securities processing – or the other way round. DISACON supports this separation and coordinates the outsourced processes in day-to-day operation.
Can order routing and trading processes stay in-house?
Yes. Order routing, trading connectivity and upstream processes can be run entirely in-house. In this case DISACON takes over the downstream processes such as booking, position keeping, processing and settlement.
How does technical integration with existing systems work?
Integration is API-based via standardised interfaces. DISACON can be integrated into existing core banking, front-end or trading systems, or act as the central processing layer. Batch and event-based connections are also possible.
Does DISACON also support hybrid or legacy system landscapes?
Yes. DISACON is explicitly designed for heterogeneous and grown IT landscapes. Existing systems can be connected or replaced step by step without disrupting ongoing operations.
Who runs the securities processes day to day?
Operations can be taken over entirely by DISACON or organised jointly with your institution. On request, DISACON provides experienced processing teams that take on operational tasks or complement your existing teams.
Can we operate without our own securities or processing expertise?
Yes. DISACON enables even institutions without in-depth operational experience to run securities models in a stable and regulatory-compliant way. Technology, processes and know-how are provided centrally.
How is regulatory responsibility allocated?
Regulatory responsibility generally remains with the respective licence holder. DISACON supports with robust processes, documentation and operations, but does not act as licence holder unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
Can we keep using our existing partners?
Yes. Existing partners such as exchanges, depositories, payment or service providers can be integrated into the DISACON platform. The aim is to make existing structures usable while reducing complexity.
How flexible is the model if things change later?
The modular architecture allows adjustments during ongoing operation – for example switching partners, extending the product range or gradually outsourcing further processes.
Which project phases is DISACON suitable for?
DISACON is suitable both for building new securities offerings from scratch and for migrating, modernising and scaling existing business models – whatever their current maturity.
